Don’t Miss the 2017 Johnson County Peach Festival!

2017 Johnson County Peach FestivalCome take a bite out of history, and maybe a few peaches as well, at the longest running festival in Arkansas! The 2017 Johnson County Peach Festival celebrates its 76th anniversary July 20 – July 23!

Peaches! Is there any other fruit that so embodies summer? Their golden hue and shape reminiscent of the sun and sunsets. Their delicious sweet juiciness so perfect for snacking on during hot summer days and desserts for hot summer nights. The Johnson County Peach Festival has been celebrating both this humble, delicious fruit and the area’s successful peach industry since 1938!

A lot of tradition has sprung up at the festival over the years. Consequently, the festival features a great many contests and attractions that hearken back to simpler, gentler, happier time. Things like a frog jump, pie-eating contest, fishing derby, greased pigs, and more are still a part of this festival.

That’s not to say that the modern world hasn’t crept in a bit, too. The 2017 Johnson County Peach Festival also features a skateboarding, lip-syncing, and the popular Johnson County Idol – a take off of TV’s American Idol. With such a wide variety of events, no wonder the festival regularly attracts crowds that number into the thousands.

Best of all, the festival’s namesake is everywhere you look. Prepare your taste buds for lots of delicious, juicy peach treats and dishes. You’ll see baskets of locally-grown peaches for sale, peach cobbler, peaches in syrup, peach jam, peach pie, and too many other peach dishes to list here.
