If you love great jazz, then you do not want to miss the 26th annual Hot Springs JazzFest, August 31st through September 3rd, 2017! This beloved jazz festival brings out the best local, regional, and even national jazz musicians for 4 days of great music and fun.
Hot Springs JazzFest has been a summer staple for the region since 1992. Held each year on Labor Day Weekend, the festival features a variety of jazz performances, great food, and special events. Events take place at a variety locations around Hot Springs, many of them outdoors and free!
Only a few, tantalizing details for this year’s Hot Springs JazzFest have been released. These few hints, along with memories of previous festivals, have already heated up speculation that 2017 may produce the biggest JazzFest yet!
Jazz In The Streets – This is the signature event of Hot Springs JazzFest. Jazz In The Streets festival’s traditional free outdoor concert held in the Entertainment District of Broadway Street.
Classical and Jazz Blow Out – A unique fusion of jazz and classical music, held at Hot Springs’ Five Star Theatre. Previous years’ have seen jazz favorites performed with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Quintet.
Jazz At The Ohio Club – An intimate evening of live jazz at Hot Springs’ historic Ohio Club. Come tap your toes and enjoy a sip at a club that has seen Al Capone, Lucky Luciano, Babe Ruth, and Al Jolson.
Jazz Mass – Who says jazz can’t be reverential? Hot Springs JazzFest closes each year with a moving and special Jazz Mass at the historic St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The massive and historic stone Gothic Revival church adds its own beauty and dimension to the music. A real treat!
JazzFest is produced by the Hot Springs Jazz Society, who work to to perpetuate, preserve, and promote jazz music. The group started the festival and supports a variety of similar events and initiatives throughout the year. Most notably, a scholarship program that sends qualifying music students to the University of Arkansas Summer Jazz Camp.
