Maxwell Blade’s Odditorium and Curiosities Museum in Hot Springs, ARStrange taxidermy, voodoo dolls, mysteries of nature, and much more will intrigue and startle you at Maxwell Blade’s Odditorium and Curiosities Museum in Hot Springs, AR.

Are you fascinated by the weird, the mysterious, and the mildly morbid? If so, then you do not want to miss Hot Springs’ Odditorium and Curiosities Museum!

The ever-growing collection is owned and exhibited by Hot Spring’s illusionist and entertainer, Maxwell Blade. His collection of more than 300 rare and strange objects come from all over the world.

Previously housed in what was once one of the South’s only drive-through mortuaries, the Odditorium has since moved to Hot Spring’s restored and historic Malco Theatre.

Oddities and Curiosities

Inside you’ll see jars of preserved reptiles, a silver Inca skull from Machu Picchu, a Fiji mermaid, and a two-faced calf. There’s a sailing ship model with human hair for rigging, chastity belts, tribal masks, and one of Edgar Allen Poe’s inkwells.

The collection also includes vintage and historic magician props. Some of the antique circus and sideshow posters on display come from Hot Springs’ own history. Some, for example, come from a once a popular carnival on Whittington Avenue that saw stars like Mae West and Gypsy Rose Lee perform.

The macabre and fascinating display at the Odditorium is always being rotated and updated. You never know what you might see!

The Odditorium is an extension of the adjacent Maxwell Blade Theatre of Magic. Blade has been a Hot Springs attraction for decades. His popular illusion show toured for two years before settling in Hot Springs, in 1996.

The current show includes illusion, comedy, and music that draws regular crowds of locals and visitors. The intimate setting and smaller production allow for a personal and uniquely entertaining show. One more reason to visit Arkansas and the popular resort town of Hot Springs!
