The ever-growing collection is owned and exhibited by Hot Spring’s illusionist and entertainer, Maxwell Blade. His collection of more than 300 rare and strange objects come from all over the world.

Previously housed in what was once one of the South’s only drive-through mortuaries, the Odditorium has since moved to Hot Spring’s restored and historic Malco Theatre.

Who doesn’t love seeing the fun and festive holiday light displays that spring up around this time of year? Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, you can’t deny that the multi-colored lights and decorations bring life and joy to what can otherwise be a cold and bleak season.

Arkansans certainly seem to enjoy decorating. In fact, Arkansas becomes a true holiday wonderland every year between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. Communities and individuals across the state invest a lot of time, money, and heartfelt effort into decorating for the season. Expansive arrays of twinkling lights and animated displays spring up in parks, fields, city greens, and elsewhere. Many are so big you have to walk or even drive through them to see everything.

Wings Over the Prairie Festival 2018Come to Stuttgart, AR the “Duck Capital of the World” for the 83rd annual World Championship Duck Calling Contest and Wings Over the Prairie Festival. November 17th through the 24th, 2018.

The Wings Over the Prairie Festival is the largest outdoor duck hunting expo in the Mid-South and one of the Arkansas Delta’s biggest annual events. The festival originated in Stuttgart and has been held here every year since 1936 and it never fails to draw a crowd of thousands from around the country.

Lights Of The Ozarks 2017The 23rd annual Lights Of The Ozarks sees more than 450,000 lights decorating Fayetteville, AR’s downtown square. It’s the twinkling winter wonderland event of the season! November 17th through December 31st, 2017.

Arkansas is full of great things to do during the end-of-the-year holidays. One of the brightest is Fayetteville’s annual Lights Of The Ozarks event. Lights Of The Ozarks transforms downtown Fayetteville into a stunning sea of twinkling lights and festive holiday fancy.

The lights are everywhere downtown: twined around light and sign poles, outlining buildings, adding color and fun to bushes, hedges, fences, and trees. Stands of lights make up familiar figures and objects like Santa, snowflakes, poinsettias, and even Razorbacks!

Blanchard Springs Caverns, located just north of Mountain View, AR in Ozark National Forest, is an incredible, living cave that is always worth a visit. Once the end-of-the-year holidays roll around, however things really heat up with Caroling In The Caverns.

During Caroling In The Caverns, local musicians perform regional interpretations of classic carols. That may sound more typical than amazing but that’s because I haven’t mentioned that they perform these carols while deep within Blanchard Springs Caverns!

World Championship Cardboard Boat Races 2017Get set for the 31st annual World Championship Cardboard Boat Races! This beloved and wacky annual event is scheduled for July 29, 2017, 10am at Sandy Beach on Greers Ferry Lake in Heber Springs, AR.

Heber Springs’ Cardboard Boat Races began as a novelty in 1987 to help drum up a little more summer tourism for the area. If they had had any idea how successful and popular this event would be, they probably would’ve started up sooner! Every year contestants, spectators, and film crews from across the country come to witness the spectacle – and spectacle it truly is!
