Mountain Dulcimer Workshop Package
The Wildflower Bed & Breakfast invites you to learn new techniques and improve your skills during a full weekend of music and instruction with mountain dulcimer player Charlie Mink.
Charlie's group, "Celtic Breeze" performs regularly at the Ozark Folk Center and other venues, however, he prefers the more intimate setting of coffee shops and art galleries because of the interaction possible between musician and listener.
Charlie plays all types of music, but his first love is ancient Celtic airs which form the roots of so much of our modern music. He is fascinated with the history of this music, some of which stretches back 1700 years. Charlie performs solo at many locations in the area as well as around the country.
Although instruction is aimed at beginner* to advanced beginner, intermediate players will benefit from review or may pick up new techniques missed while learning to play. Because of limited class size, a combination of group and individual sessions is planned. This will allow the student to receive instruction in a specific area of interest, such as Celtic, gospel, folk, finger picked, amped, etc. This program will also allow ample free time for practice.
What to Expect:
Friday, March 2, 2012 - Bring your instrument* for a fun and informal orientation night. Charlie will evaluate each person’s level and skills in order to provide meaningful instruction.
Saturday, March 3, 2012 - Charlie will perform some of his favorites while you enjoy a full country breakfast in our sunny dining room. Following this, there will be morning and afternoon clinics with group participation. In addition, there will be individual, one-on-one sessions with Charlie throughout the day. Each participant will have the opportunity to receive personalized instruction.
Additionally, you will enjoy a special tour of the Dulcimer Shoppe, makers of the fine McSpadden instruments. The tour will be led by the proprietor, Jim Woods. During the tour, Jim will discuss the properties of the various types of dulcimers, as well as proper care and maintenance of your instrument.
Sunday, March 4, 2012 - Breakfast will be followed by an informal morning clinic before you depart.
Don't miss this excellent opportunity to receive instruction, and become a better dulcimer player while being pampered in the lovely atmosphere of the Wildflower. Space is limited, call today to make your reservation.
* If you've never played before, but have a sincere interest, upon pre-arrangement, there will be dulcimers available to rent.
Cost: Price of room plus $80.00 for music clinics
