Lights Of The Ozarks 2017The 23rd annual Lights Of The Ozarks sees more than 450,000 lights decorating Fayetteville, AR’s downtown square. It’s the twinkling winter wonderland event of the season! November 17th through December 31st, 2017.

Arkansas is full of great things to do during the end-of-the-year holidays. One of the brightest is Fayetteville’s annual Lights Of The Ozarks event. Lights Of The Ozarks transforms downtown Fayetteville into a stunning sea of twinkling lights and festive holiday fancy.

The lights are everywhere downtown: twined around light and sign poles, outlining buildings, adding color and fun to bushes, hedges, fences, and trees. Stands of lights make up familiar figures and objects like Santa, snowflakes, poinsettias, and even Razorbacks!

Lights of the Ozarks has been a Fayetteville tradition since 1994. The display goes up every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and comes back down New Year’s Eve. It is said to take more than 3,300 hours and 450,000 lights to create the display every year. Now that’s some dedication!

Lights Of The Ozarks is more than just a sea of twinkling lights, however. Along with all the decorations, the event also includes carriage rides, pony rides, fresh hot chocolate, and the lilting strains of festive holiday music. A variety of local and regional choirs also perform throughout the weeks the display is up. Further, the event takes place in Fayetteville’s Historic Downtown Square, which is loaded with plenty of shops, galleries, restaurants, and even a microbrewery!

Lights Of The Ozarks kicks off each year with the Lighting Night Parade. The Lighting Night Parade includes floats, music, performers, live music, and Santa, of course. The event also sees the very first lighting of the 2017 Lights Of The Ozarks display. This year’s Lighting Night Parade is set for 6pm on Friday, November 17th.
